Abstract
This study investigated psychological wellbeing through health information behavior.
In particular, the mediating role of health information behavior and the moderating effect of digital literacy were examined. A total of 1,000 South Koreans aged 20 - 79, including an elderly group and a non-elderly group, participated in face to face interviews. ROverall, results confirmed differences in the level of psychological wellbeing, health information behavior and digital literacy between the elderly and non-elderly groups. More importantly, both the mediating role of health information behavior and the moderating effect of digital literacy turned out be statistically significant. That is, the elderly with high levels of digital literacy showed significantly increased health information behavior, while the non-elderly with high levels of digital literacy did not. The results of this study highlight the importance of active health information seeking and digitial literacy for the elderly.
